Exeter based independently owned veterinary group CityVets held a Christmas raffle in support of Guide Dogs. With prizes donated from local businesses including Double Locks, Darts Farm, Pet Remedy and CityVets, pet owners were in with a chance to win a range of fantastic treats – for both their pets and themselves!
CityVets raised £300 and presented Glenda Webb, Dog Care and Welfare Adviser for Guide Dogs, based in Exeter, with a cheque just before Christmas. The prize winning clients and their pets posed with Alphington branch vet, Sara Burke. All prize winners and their pets managed to look at the camera just long enough to get a snap!
Glenda Webb explained that Guide Dogs receives no government funding so fundraising activities like raffles and events are crucial to the continued work of Guide Dogs.
“All your donations help provide independence and freedom for blind and partially sighted people across Exeter. Right now, we’ll put the money raised to use where it is needed most – from paying for puppy food through to funding training. CityVets clients can be certain that it’ll make a big difference and be very gratefully received. Thank you to everyone who bought a raffle ticket and the CityVets team for their support.”
Congratulations to the prize winners, Miss Mattock (prize picked up by her friend George), Mr Hearn with Patch the Jack Russell Terrier, Ms Facey (with photo of her cat Florence), and Mrs Tucker with dogs Dill and Tula.
Founding partner of CityVets, Shaun Moore, told us, “CityVets are proud to be the veterinary team for the Exeter Guide Dogs, and our latest fundraising effort is a further way of showing our support for their tireless work.”
Alfie the Guide Dog in Training also came along to thank CityVets and their clients for their fundraising efforts but was more interested in trying to steal decorations from the tree! Alfie completed his Guide Dog puppy training in Exeter and is doing well in his advanced training.
Well done to all involved in making the CityVets raffle a great success!
