We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, enthusiastic and friendly veterinary surgeon with a particular interest in Medicine. 

Our ideal candidate would have a Medicine Certificate, but we are happy to fund a study towards a Medicine Certificate if that is where your interest lies.  Our three branches and state of the art Veterinary Hospital service the local population of Exeter, aiming to provide an exceptional service that sets us apart from other practices. We are due to have a CT scanner installed in our hospitals’ new extension towards the end of 2019.

The role is based on a four or four and a half day week with equally shared participation in the Week-end and out of hours service. 

You will play a key role in managing complex medical cases at our hospital as well as helping with our routine first opinion consultations and surgical caseload. We hope to be able to add a medicine referral option to our current referral services in due course. You will be supported by an experienced, happy and dedicated team of nurses and an experienced team of vets, many with their areas of expertise which allows us to provide a holistic approach to complex cases. Your professional development, including study towards a certificate, will be fully encouraged and supported.

ECZM Residency Program in Small Mammal Medicine and Surgery at CityVets in Exeter (UK)

CityVets (Exeter, UK) has now opened a position for a 4-year alternative residency program in Small Mammal Medicine and Surgery accredited by the European College of Zoological Medicine.

CityVets offers a multi-disciplinary first opinion and referral service within a state-of-the-art facility. As well as providing excellent routine medical, surgical and preventative health care of all species, it is well equipped to deal with the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of more complex medical and surgical disorders and emergencies.  CityVets is based in the vibrant and eclectic university city of Exeter, one of the most attractive cities in South-West England.

The residency program will consist of 4-year-training in small mammal medicine and surgery while developing a wide knowledge of other species as well.  The resident will be supervised by an ECZM diplomate in Small Mammals and will be responsible for both first opinion and referral cases as well as the hospitalised animals. The resident will participate in the clinic out-of-hours rotation, and they will be supported to undertake research projects.

The applicant must:

    Be a qualified veterinary surgeon with a minimum of two years of experience in veterinary practice or one year rotating internship.

    Be MRCVS or be eligible to become MRCVS

– Have experience in small mammal, exotics and small animal practice (both medically and surgically).

  Be proficient in English (both written and spoken)

Any experience in research, publishing and teaching is not required but ideal.
